PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Residents and commuters should be prepared for the closure of part of Sherow Road in Pleasant Valley beginning Monday and running through early December, according to the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.
Sections of Sherow Road, about 160 feet west of the intersection of North Avenue will be closed for bridge construction, as well as the reconstruction of the Sherow Road/North Avenue intersection.
The rest of Sherow Road, including the town of Pleasant Valley transfer station and highway garage, will remain open to traffic; motorists can access the road from the Salt Point Highway (Route 115) side of Sherow Road.
In addition to the road closure, North Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic with a controlled traffic signal for two weeks beginning Monday.
Motorists are advised to anticipate traffic delays and to consider alternate routes.
The project originally began in the spring, but unforeseen delays were experienced that halted project work for an extended length of time.
