POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Two Marist professors are part of an effort to build a birthing center in Sampa, Ghana, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Anne Matheus and Christina Vertullo joined 12 others from Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park in a 2014 mission to Ghana and a reverend's hometown, the story said.

Since their mission, students have studied there and faculty have donated computers and textbooks, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The birthing center is slated to open next year.
