WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- The race for Supervisor of Wappinger will not be decided until Monday.
Absentee ballots counted Thursday afternoon by the Dutchess County Board of Elections gave Democrat Greg Quinn a nine-vote lead over Republican Lori Jiava, 1,359 votes to 1,350 votes.
Incumbent Barbara Getzler ran a write-in campaign after a falling out with the Republican Party and the Dutchess County Board of Elections denying her a spot on the Conservative line. There were 1,216 write-in votes cast.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Dan Miller, deputy commissioner for the Dutchess Democratic Party, said there are 12 votes that are in dispute and will not be open until Monday.
Quinn, a high school social worker in The Bronx, said he plans to leave his job if elected, according to the Journal.
Republicans were victorious in all four wards in the races for town board.
