Town of Poughkeepsie police said two teenagers were approached by a passenger in a suspicious white van after 6 p.m. on Monday. The exact location of the incident was near South Road and Beechwood Avenue, police said.

In a news release Tuesday, town police said that two teenagers said they were approached by a passenger in the van shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday near Route 9.

The incident occurred near South Road and Beechwood Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie, police said.

The van's passenger, with a tan complexion and possibly Hispanic, approached the teens, who did not engage in any further conversation, according to police. The teenagers were able to leave the scene safely, police said, and the van left the area.
