Residents Return To Hopewell Junction Home To Alleged Burglary In Progress

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- East Fishkill Police are investigating an alleged burglary that happened around 9 p.m. Sunday night at a home on Augusta Drive in Hopewell Junction, according to police.

The situation ended with all three suspects being apprehended.

East Fishkill Police, along with State Police and Dutchess County Sheriff's units, responded to an alleged interrupted burglary at the residence, police said.

The home's residents reportedly returned home to find three masked people in their home, according to police.

A struggle ensued and the three residents were reportedly injured, police said.

The three alleged burglars fled the scene, according to police.

All three victims were taken by ambulance to a Poughkeepsie Hospital, said police.

Police began an immediate search for the alleged suspects utilizing both K-9 units and a state police helicopter and a sheriff's patrol located the alleged suspected vehicle in Arthursburgh, according to police.

Shortly after, the three alleged suspects were taken into custody, said police.

Police are continuing their investigation in the burglary and will provide further updates when appropriate, according to police.

There is no reason to believe any other suspects are at large or that the community is in any danger, said police chief Kevin Keefe.
