Poughkeepsie Man Charged With Choking, Hitting Teen In Head With Bottle

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A 28-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested Thursday after state police investigators found that he had choked a teenage girl and then hit her in the head with a glass bottle during a domestic dispute, authorities said.

Jay T. Gladson faces charges of second-degree assault and aggravated family offense, both felonies, and criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor, police said.

The 28-year-old is accused of assaulting a 17-year-old girl on Feb. 4. Gladson's arrest came after a nearly two-week investigation, police said.

Gladson was arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court on Thursday, Feb. 18 on unrelated charges, police said without specifying what those charges were.

He is to return to court on Friday, Feb. 19.
