Poughkeepsie Man Busted With $4.9K Worth Of Cocaine, Pot

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Poughkeepsie man was busted Tuesday with cocaine, marijuana, and cash after police conducted a search warrant on his home, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Police.

Rashmi Ruparelia, 40, of Mill Street, was arrested following an investigation by members of the department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Emergency Service Unit into narcotics distribution after receiving numerous complaints from community members, said Sgt. Sean Fitzgerald.

As a result of the search, officers recovered one ounce of cocaine, more than 1.75 pounds of marijuana, and in excess of $4,900 in cash, police said.

Ruparelia was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal possession of marijuana.

Ruparelia was held at the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department pending arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.
