Police: Wappinger Man Threatens Victim With Weapon In Domestic Dispute

A state police investigation into a Dutchess County domestic dispute led to the arrest of a man who had previously been jailed for previous convictions.

Troopers were dispatched to a Degarmo Hills Road in Wappinger on Jan. 24, where there were reports of a domestic dispute involving Joseph Brenna III, 36, who allegedly threatened his victim with a weapon.

Further investigation into Brenna revealed that he had previous convictions on his record. During processing, police said that Brenna continued to act in a violent manner, intentionally damaging state property.

Brenna was arrested and charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a weapon, as well as menacing, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. Following arraignment, Brenna was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
