A near four-month investigation into a home burglary in Dutchess County led to the arrest of a local man who is now behind bars, police said.

New York State Police troopers in Poughkeepsie received a report of a burglary that took place at a Tyrell Hill Road in Pleasant Valley on June 15, prompting the lengthy investigation into the incident.

Nearly four months later, investigators announced the arrest of Washington resident Jason Cole, 39, who allegedly entered the home illegally with the intent to commit a crime, police announced this week.

Cole was arrested and charged with a third-degree count of burglary, a felony. Following his arraignment in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court, Cole was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Oct. 9 to answer the charge.
