Hopewell Junction Couple Charged With Stealing Jewelry From Putnam Home

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – A Hopewell Junction couple is facing felony charges after authorities accused them of stealing jewelry from an area home, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Frank A. Mazzola and Mary K. Mazzola were arrested Aug. 9 at their home at 42 Quail Run Road by officers executing a search warrant, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Putnam Sheriff’s investigators came to suspect the Mazzolas while investigating the home burglary with East Fishkill police, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, a portion of the jewelry taken during the July 21 burglary was recovered at the Mazzola’s home.

Frank Mazzola, 29, and Mary Mazzola, 31, were both arraigned in Patterson Town Court, where the husband was charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and the wife was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.

The Mazzolas were both taken to the Putnam County jail, where they were held on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. Both are to answer to the criminal charges at a later date, according to police.

If convicted, Frank Mazzola could face up to four years in state prison and a fine of up to $5,000 while Mary Mazzola could face up to 15 years in state prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
