Former Inmate Charged With Attacking Officers In Fishkill Prison

FISHKILL, N. Y. -- A 19-year-old former Fishkill Correctional Facility inmate is facing an assault charge following a New York State Police investigation of a 2014 attack on correction officers, police said.

Francisco J. Esmurria is charged with felony second-degree assault as a result of a November 2014 incident in his jail cell, police said.

In 2014, police said, he covered the windows of his cell with blankets and was unresponsive when officers went in the cell to check on him. The officers were attacked when they entered the cell, and one of the officers suffered a shoulder injury, police said.

He is back in custody pending a future court date after an arraignment in the Town of Fishkill Court, police said.
