An 80-year-old man was injured when he left his truck in neutral and then reached inside to retrieve something and was dragged as it rolled.

The incident took place around 11:12 a.m. Monday on Route 376 in Hopewell Junction, said East Fishkill Police Chief Matthew Orsino.

The unidentified man had gotten out of his truck to go back inside his home to call his doctor about his medication but once on the phone, realized he had left the medication in the truck and went to retrieve it, Orsino said.

When he reached inside the truck, the vehicle rolled dragging him outside of the vehicle, causing injuries to his face and arms, he added.

The man, who was awake and talking with police, was taken to Vassar Hospital for treatment of the injuries.
