POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Vincent A. “Jim” Damico 86, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie passed away Thursday May 26, 2016.
Damico was a treasurer for the Local 1000 Laborer’s Union in Poughkeepsie up until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, the Italian Center and the Machinist Club, all in Poughkeepsie.
Damico was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served our country and was honorably discharged.
Damico was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Poughkeepsie, the son of Giuseppe and Michelina Zaccaro Damico.
On March 19, 1960, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie he married Betty Macy. She predeceased him Dec. 13, 1999.
Survivors include his daughters, Jamie Damico of Poughkeepsie, Debbie Barton of Kingston; granddaughters, Angela Damico of Poughkeepsie, Jennifer Feldheim of Hastings-On-Hudson; grandson, Jeffrey Feldheim and his wife Alexis of Kingston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Grace LaFalce, Anna Sassone, Millie Yovella; and brothers, Vincenzo and Joseph Damico.

Callling hours from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery Poughkeepsie with military honors.
