POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Rita M. Lane, 93, of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, Sept. 6. She was 93.
She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Poughkeepsie.
She worked for more than 35 years in the retail industry at Montgomery Wards, Barkers and Van Heusen, having retired in 1988.
She was a lifetime member, and past president, secretary and treasurer of the Italian Center Ladies Auxilary. She was instrumental in the formation of the Queen City Seniors, and also was an active member of Saint Rita’s and Saint Ann’s Societies. She enjoyed traveling, reading, going to the casino and playing bocce. She was a communicant at both Holy Trinity and Mt. Carmel Parishes in Poughkeepsie.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward.
She is survived by her son, Gary Lane and his wife Katherine; daughter, Pamela Lane; daughter, Karen Humenick and husband Ray, together with her grandchildren Kimberly Galasso and husband Craig, Jessica Lane-Howley and husband Adrian and Kyle Humenick; and great grandchildren, Daniella Lane, Jenna Galasso and Bianca Howley.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie. Street-level and wheelchair-accessible entrance is off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
