Mary E. Egan, 89, Of Wappingers Falls

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Mary E. Egan, 89, of Wappingers Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 21. 

She was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Kilcormac, County Offaly, Ireland, the daughter of James Callaghan and Anne Powell. 

She was a local resident since 1960, and formerly lived in Jackson Heights. 

Egan was employed as a bookkeeper for an insurance firm in Manhattan and later as a baker for the Wappingers Central School District at the VanWyck school. She enjoyed line dancing and the chorus at the senior center. 

She was predeceased by her husband, John Egan; and brother, James Callaghan. 

She is survived by her children, Maura Ann Ortega and Kerry, Katherine M. Boyce and Jack and Shane F. Egan and Gail; grandchildren, Shane Joseph Egan and Katherine and Emily Alicia Egan; and great-grandchildren, Claire Marie and Brigid Mary. 

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Marys Church, 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery.
