John Joseph Steffanci III, 53, Former Beacon Resident

BEACON, N.Y. – John Joseph Steffanci III of Las Vegas, formerly of Beacon, died Friday, March 4. He was 53.

Born Dec. 19, 1962, in Beacon, he was the son of John and Elaine Clark Steffanci Jr. Steffanci was an advertising executive for iHeart Media Group, Las Vegas. He was the former co-host of the WPDH morning show with the late Stew Schantz from 1985-88. He started the annual "Roof-a Thons," which raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also hosted WEOK Interview and call-in program “Talk Back,” and a daytime talk show and morning show at WKIP in Poughkeepsie from 1989-1994. He attended Beacon City Schools and graduated in 1981. He graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1985.

Survivors include his longtime partner, Sam, of Las Vegas; his parents, John Jr. and Elaine Steffanci of Wappingers Falls; his sister, Pam (John) Wood of Cornwall; nieces, Jessica and Jenna Wood; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his much-loved dog, Ollie.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, from 1-3 p.m. at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave., Beacon, where at 2 p.m. services will take place.
