POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Doretta M. Fleet, of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, Nov. 5. She was 92.
She was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Ralph and Helena Berrian Puff.
She had many jobs during her career. She worked at New York Telephone as an operator, Dairy Queen in Poughkeepsie, Belladonna Hair Salon in Arlington and Fairchild in Wappingers Falls. She retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie, where she was a quality control inspector.
She is survived by her six children, Sandra Zeaman, Beverly Farwell, Russell Fleet and his wife Carol, Gary Fleet and his wife Janet, Tracy Fleet and his wife, Rebecca and Shari Fleet-Kunin and her husband, Brian; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lester W. Fleet; and two sisters, Leora Bennett and Constance Randles.
There are no calling hours. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be buried privately in the family plot at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, Route 9, Hyde Park. The Rev. Kregg Gabor will officiate.
