Denis F. Loughney, 74, Of Wappingers Falls

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Denis F. Loughney, 74, of Wappingers Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 22. 

He was born March 7, 1942, in Ireland. He emigrated to the United States in 1961 from The Quay, Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland. 

Loughney was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the New York Power Authority at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan from 1977 until his retirement in 2000. He also worked with Con Ed from 1963-76. 

He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church where he was an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4065, New Hamburg Yacht Club and loved boating, fishing and Irish music. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hogarty; daughter, Margaret Albea and her husband Christopher; grandchildren, Keenan and Keara; and siblings, Marie McNeice, John Loughney and his wife Jean, Lawrence Loughney and his wife Linda, Peter Loughney, Teresa Foody and her husband Pat, Mona Koch and her husband Ramazan, Joseph Loughney, Michael Loughney and his wife Mary, Bertha Hewison and her husband Guy and Stephen Loughney. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Loughney; sister, Kathleen O’Boyle; and brother, William Loughney.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery.
