POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Catherine M. Gorman, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, April 14. She was 87.
She was born on Aug.12, 1928, in the Bronx to the late Peter B. Cody and Agnes Newcombe.
She was a secretary for her brother while he was the pastor at St. Peter’s Church. She then retired and enjoyed working at St. Peter’s Cemetery alongside her daughter assisting the community with genealogy.
She was predeceased by her husband, John T. Gorman; her brothers, William Cody and Rev. Peter J. Cody.
She is survived by her children, John Gorman (Rita), Mary Falconi (John) and Peter Gorman (Margie predeceased); 10 grandchildren, Brendan, Keara, Deirdre, Meghan, Jason, Jeanine, Falyn, Brian, Katie and Maureen; 12 great-grandchildren, James, Mae, Sadie, Michael, Matthew, Ashleigh, Emilee, Cyhlee, Jase, Analyn, Kalem and Zoey.
Visitation is Sunday, April 17, from 4-8 p.m., at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc., 39 S. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, with the Rev. Daniel O’Hare as principel celebrant. Burial will at a later date in St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
