SUV Jumps Curb, Kills Wappingers Falls Native In Brooklyn

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Victoria Nicodemus, who grew up in Wappingers Falls, died Sunday in Brooklyn when a vehicle swerved onto a sidewalk, killing the 30-year-old woman and injuring two others, according to multiple reports.

Nicodemus was walking on Fulton Street at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Marvin Sewell of Brooklun jumped the curb to avoid another car, striking Nicodemus, according to The New York Times. Nicodemus' boyfriend Jeffrey Toth and another pedestrian were also injured, the New York Post reported.

Nicodemus was pronounced dead at Brooklyn Hospital.

Sewell was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license, a violation, police said. 

Nicodemus worked as a curator at the Indiewalls online art gallery.

Nicodemus' father, Frank, is a Cadillac restorer in Wappingers Falls.

Frank Nicodemus' 1955 Eldorado Biarritz red convertible was used by The Rolling Stones for publicity, according to The New York Post.
