Storms Knock Out Power In Dutchess, Putnam

Thousands of residents experienced power outages as storms raged in Dutchess and Putnam counties late Monday afternoon and early Monday evening.

A thunderstorm watch was issued in the region by the National Weather Service, with a Flash Flood Watch in effect until 4 a.m. on Tuesday. 

As of 5 p.m. on Monday afternoon, more than 5,000 residents were without power in Putnam (5,164) and Dutchess (28), according to the New York State Electric and Gas.

Central Hudson, which serves most of Dutchess and part of Western Putnam reported 8,026 outages in Dutchess County as of 5:15 p.m., including nearly 3,500 in Poughkeepsie.

NYSEG serves most of Putnam and part of East Dutchess.
