A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of a pair of rape charges has reported an address change in Dutchess County.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 61-year-old Randy Johnson, who has moved to a residence on South Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Johnson as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Johnson raped a pair of women in 1997 and he was convicted of two counts of first-degree rape in February 1998. Johnson was sentenced to seven years in state prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.
