Phase 1 of Poughkeepsie LED Lighting Program Continues

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- City officials on Thursday, said that Phase 1 of the LED Lighting Program continues.

In a statement posted on the city's website, officials noted several locations where the lights have recently been installed. They include:

  • Route 9 corridor
  • Main Street (from North Water Street to Market Street)
  • Market Street (from Eastbound Arterial to Mansion Street)
  • Columbus Drive
  • Washington Street
  • Mansion Street
  • Reservoir Square (Decorative Pilot Lights)
  • Loockerman Avenue (Decorative Pilot Lights)
The city program, which has been in the works since 2013, has several aims, according to the city's statement. 

The LED Lighting Program is widely viewed as a sustainability project and a cost-savings measure that is beneficial to the overall environment. It also is seen as an effort to increase safety for the city's residents.
