Man Hospitalized After Dutchess Crash

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rhinebeck firefighters responded to an auto crash early Thursday after a car slammed into a front-end loader working on the Route 9G overpass, according to the Rhinebeck Fire Department.

A portion of the roadway was closed for about 45 minutes around 5:40 a.m., after the car crashed into the construction vehicle that was working to clear snow build-up from the bridge, said Henry Campbell, information officer for the Rhinebeck Fire Department.

The DOT employee driving the front-end loader was sent to Northern Dutchess Hospital by Rhinebeck ambulance for medical evaluation, Campbell added.

The driver of the car refused treatment, according to fire officials.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s office, NYS DOT, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics assisted at the scene.
