BEACON, N.Y. -- The Howland Public Library in Beacon was recently awarded a Public Library Construction Grant from the state Education Department to upgrade its public restrooms and front entrance.
The construction -- set to begin on Monday -- will improve access to the library for all users. These improvements include an ADA-compliant, energy-efficient airlock entry and accessible restrooms.
The library will be closed from Friday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Dec 6. It will reopen on Monday, Dec. 7, at 9:30 a.m. Public restrooms will not be available from Nov. 23 until the completion of the project.
The entire project is being monitored by professionals and is in compliance with all state and federal laws.
