Advisory Issued After Rash Of Vehicle Break-Ins In Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie Police are warning residents of an increasing number of vehicle break-ins in the south side areas of the city.

Police said they have received reports in the residential areas south of Hooker Avenue, as well as the area around Georgetown Square.

The thief, or thieves, are going through unlocked cars and stealing property and valuables left inside.

Police warn residents to lock all the doors of their vehicles and to remove all valuables inside.

Most of the thefts are taking place in vehicles that have been left unlocked.
