Bateman, a filmmaker, won $28,001 on the venerable quiz show Wednesday night, getting every single clue he guessed correct. He is looking to defend his title on Thursday.

On the show, Bateman was 20 for 20, including winning $3,000 on a Daily Double clue. Going into Final "Jeopardy!", he was up $17,000 to $14,000 and had this clue:

This four-letter word was introduced in London in 1905 by Dr. H.A. Des Voeux of the Coal Smoke Abatement Society.

Bateman correctly guessed smog, wagering $10,401. He ended up defeating his closest competitor $28,001 to $25,599.

The Beacon resident is no stranger to game shows. Bateman previously won $100,000 on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' He used some of his winnings to finance the mockumentary "You, Your Brain & You."

Bateman also wrote "Disalmanac: A Book Of Fact-Like Facts,", and runs the @Disalmanac, a Twitter account that dispenses false facts. He also created the show "Scott Bateman Presents Scott Bateman Presents."

"Jeopardy!" airs at 7 p.m. on WABC 7.
