The East Fishkill Police Department is hosting a special “Stop the Bleed” training class that could help attendees save the life of a friend or family member in case of a traumatic incident.

According to police, a person can bleed to death in as little as 20 seconds or a few minutes. In an effort to assist area residents in preventing such an instance, the department has announced that there will be two training classes hosted by trained professionals.

The classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 10 at the East Fishkill Police Department on Route 52 in Hopewell Junction. Those that complete the training will be awarded a certificate of completion from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

Those interested in signing up for the classes can do so by calling East Fishkill Police Lt. Jon Wood by calling (845) 221-2111.
