What Makes It A Cut Above: Located in a charming brick building on Fishkill’s main drag -- just blocks away from an historic church that the Continentals used as a military prison during the Revolutionary War – the 13-year-old Sapore serves up steak, seafood and pasta. While its dry-aged, in-house steaks are simple and basic, the eatery also offers entrees the first fathers -- and mothers -- might have ordered: grilled medallions of venison (deer raised at Millbrook Farm), elk and a buffalo steak.
The décor has been praised by citizen reviewers as “lovely” and features big, comfy chairs to lounge in and digest after a big meal. It has a full bar and an extensive wine list. Yelp reviewers recommend Sapore’s signature burger (a mix of filet mignon and sirloin) or a sliced steak sammie. There are items for the non-carnivores in the crowd, too, such as vegetarian paella and porcini mushroom ravioli.
