POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – There’s still room left to join the popular LaGrange Association Library programs', Craft a Holiday Countdown Charger Plate set for Wednesday, Dec. 2 ,from 1 to 3 p.m. at the library, 488 Freedom Plains Road in Poughkeepsie.
The cost of the class is $3 and signup is on the library’s website .
This week the library offers parents the Mango & Tumble Books Demo Friday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 3 p.m. With 66 languages to choose from, Mango offers youth interactive audio tutorials to practice reading, listening and speaking. Parents may drop in to watch the demonstration.
An adult program is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. to help participants download digital books to their mobile device. The program is by appointment at 1, 2 or 3 p.m. Register at http://www.laglib.org/
Then Wednesday evening Bankers Life insurance agent Donna Yoanidis will teach Medicare 101 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to help participants navigate the ins and outs of Medicare, looking into how to qualify, available options, past and future changes and more.
On Thursday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. there will be an afternoon matinee showing “The Grapes of Wrath.”
The novel by John Steinbeck has been selected by LaGrange Library for the annual community read.
As a compliment to the “The Grapes of Wrath,” through Nov. 13, the library will be reading a junior fiction collection of poetry set in the Dust Bowl called "Out of the Dust" by Karen Hesse. Participants may join this online book club discussion on Facebook by clicking on the “Laid-Back Book Club graphic.”
