The Howland Chamber Music Circle is hosting a day of "instrument discovery" at St. Andrews Church at 17 South Avenue in Beacon. The event is part of Beacon's Second Saturday celebration of the art.

The program will begin with a "petting zoo" where students can handle the various instruments. This will be followed by performances on several of the instruments.

Kids are encouraged to touch and explore the various instruments and ask questions. String, wind, brass instruments as well as piano and organs will be featured.

The second part of the program will feature a number of area musicians and music teachers performing short works to demonstrate the qualities of each of their instruments.

The event will feature performances by Daniel Frankhuizen, on the cello Carl Gutowski, on the flute Justin Keller, on the guitar, saxophone and clarinet among others.
