The Town of Somers is making its pitch to reel in Amazon.
Somers is hoping Amazon will be attracted to its former IBM and PepsiCo campuses and is one of 238 proposals being vetted by the company for its new $5 billion headquarters that is expected to create 50,000 jobs.
It will not be easy for Somers, which is competing against places like Chicago. But the town has more than 1,540,000 square feet to attract Amazon with the possibility of building four buildings on the site. The town is also hoping to use its close proximity to New York City as a selling point.
Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and White Plains have also submitted bids for Amazon.
