According to officials, DPW crews are scheduled to begin work on Monday, June 19 to replace the bridge, which is located over the Relief Jansen Kill. Officials said that the bridge is in need of replacement due to structural deficiencies.

The project is expected to include the replacement of the existing bridge, as well as abutments and the widening of the structure to include four-foot shoulders.

Beginning on June 22, Academy Hill Road will be closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to extend through the end of the fall. It is estimated that Bridge M-7 is driven on by more than 100 motorists daily.

Motorists have been advised by the DPW to “plan for additional time and to exercise extra caution on the detour route, obey the posted speed limits, traffic advisory signs and the directions from flaggers in the work zone to ensure the safety of workers and other motorists.”
