Poughkeepsie Schools Could See Multi-Million Dollar Budget Cuts

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A $3.5 million shortfall in the budget could force City of Poughkeepsie Schools to enact heavy spending cuts to balance the 2017-18 budget, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The board has not made any decisions on what would be cut from next year's budget, but potential cuts could impact the Academic and Career Excellence Academy, cut full-day kindergarten to half-day, and a reduction in teaching positions, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
