HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Two John Jay High School teachers were recently honored for their years of being master teachers.

Tad Herman has served as a national master teacher in Principles of Engineering since 2004. Master Teachers train all teachers new to Project Lead The Way curriculum during summer training sessions across the country. Tad has taught at the University of Seattle, University of New Haven, and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Jeff Butler has served as a national master teacher in Engineering Design and Development since 2009. Jeff has taught at Duke University, California Polytechnic University at Pomona, and the University of Texas at Tyler.

Herman and Butler are two of 240 high school engineering Project Lead The Way Engineering Master Teachers across the country.

Master Teachers must conduct ongoing professional development, revise national curriculum, build industry partnerships within their school, as well serve as a model school by maintaining its engineering program.
