As previously reported by Daily Voice, Trump added a special visit before the rally.

Trump will be making a quick visit at his alma mater, the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, before heading to the rally in Dutchess County, a local supporter who was invited to meet him told Daily Voice.

Cornwall GOP Chairwoman Jeanne LaBarge arranged the meeting, the supporter said.

New York Military Academy is a private boarding school about 60 miles north of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and one of the oldest military schools in the nation.

Like much about Trump, his time at NYMA was not without controversy. As a senior cadet in 1963, Trump was transferred from a student command position after he allegedly was involved in the hazing of a freshman in his barracks. For more on the incident, check this Washington Post report.

Trump, who is looking to win all of New York's 95 delegates, holds a commanding lead in primary polls, with 53 percent to Gov. John Kasich's 22 percent to Sen. Ted Cruz's 18 percent, according to RealClearPolitics.

Trump, who has numerous business ties to the area is the second presidential candidate to come to Poughkeepsie after Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders held a rally at Marist College on April 12.

Mayor Rob Rolison told The Poughkeepsie Journal that a large turnout is expected and attendees should consider carpooling or taking Metro-North.

Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower at City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
