Cook Political Report Rates GOP 19th District Primary A Tossup

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. --The nonpartisan Cook Political Report has rated the Republican primary race between Andrew Heaney and John Faso for the 19th Congressional District a tossup, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal

Millbrook business owner Heaney and former state Assemblyman Fasso of Kinderhook will face off in the primary on Tuesday for the seat that's being vacated by the retiring Republican Chris Gibson.

The 19th Congressional District comprises most of Dutchess County, parts of Broome, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties and all of Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster counties.

County Republican Party committees throughout the district have endorsed Faso, who is running on the promise of being "a fiscal conservative who is pragmatic," while Heany is running as an anti-Albany establishment businessman and job creator, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
