POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother Monday in Poughkeepsie, saying that the presidential candidate is miles ahead of rival Democrat Bernie Sanders on issues such as health care and gun control, according to a report by The Poughkeepsie Journal.

A day before the Democratic presidential primary in New York, the former first daughter spoke to a large crowd at the Civil Service Employees Union’s office and was scheduled to speak later in the day in Kingston, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Stating that Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who can carry on what President Barack Obama started with his Affordable Health Care Act, Chelsea Clinton also addressed the abortion issue, saying that the right to choose is a basic human right, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal story.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was scheduled to hold a rally in Poughkeepsie on Monday evening, according to multiple media reports.
