WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- A 31-year-old Wappingers Falls woman faces a felony charge of identity theft after New York State Police say she made more than $800 in fraudulent charges.
A Wappinger man contacted State Police on Sept. 7 and reported that Cassandra Coons, an acquaintance, used his debit card number to make payments on her prepaid cell phone account. An investigation revealed that Coons made over $800 in fraudulent charges using the victim’s Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union debit card number between August of 2015 and September of 2016.
Coons, 31, was charged with Identity Theft 2nd Degree, a Class E Felony, Petit Larceny and Unlawful Possession of Personal ID in the 3rd Degree, both misdemeanors.
Coons is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on Sept. 28.
