Emergency responders rushed to the scene of the fire shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday and found the house to be fully consumed by fire when they arrived, police said.
An officer located two occupants of the house, a 47-year-old man and his 17-year-old son on the lower level of the home.
The homeowner, the unidentified woman, was not initially located, police said. Once the fire was brought under control and when searching the house, they located the woman, who did not survive. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The East Fishkill Fire Department was assisted by a number of neighboring departments.
The fire is under investigation by the East Fishkill Fire and Dutchess County Fire Investigation teams along with East Fishkill Police Detectives and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The other occupants of the house are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
