Woman Charged With Entering Fishkill Correctional Facility With Drugs

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A 47-year-old woman is facing felony charges after attempting to smuggle drugs to an inmate at the Fishkill Correctional Facility.

On Tuesday, New York State Police announced that Evelyn Jimenez of Brooklyn is facing multiple charges after bringing suboxone and synthetic marijuana into the jail with the intent to provide it to an inmate over the weekend.

Jimenez was charged with felony counts of promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was also charged with reckless endangerment and second-degree promoting prison contraband, both misdemeanors.

State police said it got an assist from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigation. Jimenez was arraigned in the Village of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. She is due back in court on Tuesday.
