Wappingers Falls Police Save Life Of Drug Overdose Victim

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Wappingers Falls police saved the life of a man who had apparently overdosed on heroin Wednesday, according to hudsonvalleynewsnetwork.com

Wappingers Falls police used Narcan, or nalaxone, an anti-opioid medication, to save the life of a 42-year-old man who was found unconscious on West Academy Street on Wednesday morning.

The 42-year-old was not breathing but had a pulse when he was found on West Academy Street about 9:40 a.m., hudsonvalleynewsnetwork.com reported.

Police officers, who have been trained in the use of the lifesaving anti-opioid medication Narcan, or naloxone, gave the victim one dose but had to give him another when the first had no effect, the hudsonvalleynewsnetwork.com report said.

He was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, according to hudsonvalleynewsnetwork.com.
