On Monday, plain-clothed investigators with the state police were in the parking lot of the Home Depot on North Road when they spotted 40-year-old Ryan McNamee enter the location. Minutes later, the investigators reported that McNamee was seen exiting the store, running toward a vehicle with a shopping cart full of three chainsaws and a leaf blower.

When confronted by the investigators, police said that McNamee grabbed one chainsaw from the cart and threw it in the vehicle, instructing the driver to exit the parking area. The car was subsequently stopped on Route 9 in Hyde Park by state police troopers.

McNamee was arrested and charged with a felony charge of fourth-degree grand larceny when further investigation determined that he had stolen more than $1,100 worth of merchandise from the Home Depot. The two occupants in his vehicle were not charged and were released into police custody.

Police said that McNamee was arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is due to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court to face the charges on Wednesday.
