WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- A Wappinger man, John Spiegel, 24, was arrested Sunday, Dec. 20, by York State Police from the Wappinger barracks for first-degree felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation.

Spiegel was stopped by the state police on Red Oaks Mill Road for speeding. Following an investigation, he was found to be intoxicated at the time of the stop.

The defendant was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI related conviction from February 2012. Spiegel was additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle not equipped with an interlock device, police said.

Spiegel is due to appear in the Town of LaGrange Court on Jan. 12.
