Two Poughkeepsie Women Nabbed In Heroin, Crack Dealing Bust

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Two City of Poughkeepsie women were nabbed with drugs during a search of their home on Friday by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.

The search, along with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Emergency Services Unit, was a result of an investigation into narcotic sales taking place at the home, said  Frank Tasciotti, assistant coordinator with the Task Force.

Desiree Barnwell, 38, and Christine Straley, 49, were arrested following the search during which agents found a quantity of heroin, crack cocaine, scales, packaging materials, and $650 in cash, Tasciotti said.

Straley was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Barnwell was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both are being held without bail at the Dutchess County Jail.
