Town Of Poughkeepsie Police Department Hosts Citizen Police Academy

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Town of Poughkeepsie residents and business owners who are interested in learning how the police department works are invited to attend the next Citizen Police Academy.

The ten-week program will run from March 14, through May 16, and will meet each Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

During the academy, police department employees will offer attendees insight into how police officers perform their duties and serve the community. The purpose of the program is to allow attendees to become familiar with the department and to learn, “who we are and what we do”, in an effort to enhance police-community relations.

The academy is open to Town of Poughkeepsie residents and business owners. Class size is limited and there is no cost to attend the program. Eligible applicants will be subject to a background investigation before consideration for the program and participants will be selected based upon a successful background investigation. 

The academy will be held at the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Training Room located at 19 Tucker Drive.
