Seen Him? Police Seek Help In Search For Wappinger Store Robbery Suspect

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - New York State Police troopers in Dutchess County are seeking the public’s assistance as they continue their search for a man wanted for allegedly assaulting another man while attempting to steal from a store.

State police have issued an alert regarding 34-year-old Matthew Blizard, who is wanted by the Town of Wappinger Court on charges of second-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to police, an investigation into a robbery determined that Blizard allegedly used a blunt object as a weapon during an incident where he and a second suspect attempted to steal merchandise from a store in May.

Police said that before officers arrived at the scene, Blizard fled. A warrant for his arrest was issued on May 16.

Blizard has been described as a 6-foot, 3-inch white male weighing approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Blizard’s whereabouts have been warned not to take any police action and to instead alert troopers by calling (845) 677-7300 or emailing CrimeTip@troopers.ny.gov.
