DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A registered sex offender accused of having sex with an 8-year-old girl has changed addresses in Poughkeepsie.
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert Friday to Dutchess County residents regarding the residency of 66-year-old John Pecora, who has moved from an apartment on Carroll Street to a place on Main Street in Poughkeepsie.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Pecora a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.”
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Pecora had sexual intercourse and contact by using coercion against his 8-year-old victim in 1993. He was arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and sentenced to four months in jail and five years probation.
