Frederick Smith, who is already serving time for selling drugs in Poughkeepsie in 2013, was convicted of weapons possession, a felony, said Ulster district attorney D. Holley Carnright.

Smith was with three other men when they fired into a crowd of patrons outside the “Home” club in the Town of Lloyd, the district attorney said.

The injured included a local police officer and a sheriff’s deputy.

Smith and the others -- Tahmel Gordon, 19; Jaquan Higgs, 21; and DiMetri Moseley, 20 -- fled the scene, but were caught about a mile away, Carnright said.

All were indicted on weapons possession. Gordon was sentenced in 2015 and got up to four years in state prison.

Smith threw his gun out of the car and ran into a nearby woods, but Gordon was shot by police when he pulled a revolver out of his waistband, the district attorney said.

Smith was chased down and arrested and Gordon’s wounds were not life-threatening, Carnright added.

Smith was convicted of assault in Dutchess County in 2012, Carnright said, and is now serving a 7-year sentence for selling drugs in Poughkeepsie.

He also has been convicted of numerous misdemeanors, Carnright said.
