Poughkeepsie Man Arrested Twice In One Day For Child Porn, Grand Larceny

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - In a strange set of circumstances, a Poughkeepsie man who was nabbed by city cops for possessing child pornography on Tuesday afternoon, was arrested earlier in the day by Lloyd Police for felony grand larceny, police said.

Sebastian Martin, 21, was charged by Lloyd police with felony grand larceny and conspiracy, for stealing more than $800 dollars in gift cards from the Highland's Lowe's, said Lt. James Janso.

He also used stolen credit card information to buy the gift cards, Janso said.

Martin worked with another Poughkeepsie man and Lowe's employee Michael Acampora, 22, to conspire to steal the cards, Janso said.

Acampora was arrested Aug. 26 for felony grand larceny and identity theft for stealing $1,800 from another person's account. He is being held at the Ulster County Jail.

Following his arrest, Martin was sent to the Ulster County Jail where his mother bailed him out, said Poughkeepsie Det. Sgt. George Camacho.

What Ulster County didn't know was Martin was wanted by City of Poughkeepsie Police on a felony reference on the child pornography charge, said Camacho.

On the way home from the jail on Tuesday, Martin and his mother were in a minor car crash in Poughkeepsie and detectives happened to hear the call and rushed to the scene to arrest him, Camacho said.

Martin, who was not injured in the crash, was charged with five felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, Camacho said.

Camacho would not elaborate on how they traced Martin to the child pornography, but said: "they came across his actions."

He is being held at the Dutchess County Jail.
